Love One Another

on March 17, 2012

“For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.”  1 John 3:11

Loving people can sometimes be a challenge.  The Bible reminds us time and time again, however, that we must love everyone.  It may be easy to love your family or people that are good to you.  It’s easy to show love when things are going well in your life.  It’s not only those people or in those times that God wants us to show love, though.

Matthew 5:43-44 reminds us of this when it says, “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.”  However hard it may be, we must learn to love our neighbors, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and our enemies.

It may seem like an impossible task, but it’s not.  We must strive to obtain this pure love, because as 1 John 3:15 points out, having hatred will not allow you to have eternal life with Jesus.  “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”  Do you have the love of Christ abiding in your life today?

“Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him, if he thirst give him drink; for in doing so thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.”  Romans 12:20
