Fishers of Men

on March 3, 2012

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”  Romans 1:16

Christ paid the ultimate cost so that we could be made free from sin.  He was ridiculed and shamed, suffered persecution and torment, and died the awful death of a sinner on the cross.  He didn’t deserve any of that because He was a perfect and sinless man, yet He did it anyway because of His love for you and me.

We have a mission here on Earth as Christians.  We should be striving to win others to Christ and tell them about God’s goodness.  Just as Jesus selected the disciples in Matthew 4:19, He is asking us to do the same thing today,  “Follow me, and I will make you fishers on men.”  Unfortunately, some of us are not heeding to that call. We worry about witnessing to people we don’t know, or we worry about what people will think of us.

Today I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and find as many ways as you can to tell others about Jesus.  By following His command you will, in turn, be eternally blessed.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”  Matthew 28:19
