God Connect: Daily Renewing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

Be Still

on March 2, 2012

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”  Psalm 46:10

If your life is anything like mine, I’m sure you know what it means to be constantly busy.  You may run from here to there trying to get things done, or you may juggle multiple projects and responsibilities that are never to a point where you can say they’re finished.  Although I generally enjoying staying busy, there’s some times when the stress from all the busyness can pile upon you.  It’s in times like these when God commands us to “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Even when the busyness of our activities is centered around God and His ministry, sometimes He just wants us to be still.  In the stillness of God’s presence we can see His character shining through.  We can begin to discover the peace and joy that only He can offer.  When we slow down long enough each day to spend quality time with God, we are able to see how He’s drawing us to Him and how He’s working in our lives.

My challenge for you today is to be still.  Stop everything you’re doing and spend time worshipping God in His presence.  In turn, you will know that He is God, and He will be exalted in all the earth.
