God Connect: Daily Renewing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

Yielding to Righteousness

on February 29, 2012

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

Because of Adam and Eve’s choice in the garden of Eden, sin was introduced into the world.  Sin destroys families, causes physical and emotional pain, and separates us from God.  As Christians, we may be faced with temptation to sin each day, but we must look to God for a way of escape.  Romans 6:13 instructs us on the subject of sin, “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”

When we find ourselves in a place where we are yielding ourselves to God, we’ll find that we’re seeking righteousness instead of considering sin. Yielding yourself to God and righteousness can occur in many different ways.  A great place to start is by yielding to His Word, the Bible.  We can also consciously seek to hear God’s voice and obey it.  Going to church and being in fellowship with other believers strengthens us and prepares us to flee from sin.  Worship and prayer cause us to yield our hearts and minds to God.  Are you yielding to God today?  By yielding to righteousness you will find freedom from sin.

“But now being made free from sin, and become servants of God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”  Romans 6:22
