I Cannot Attain It

on February 27, 2012

“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.  Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.  Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.  For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.  Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.”  Psalm 139:1-6

It’s such a blessing to think of the omniscience of God.  There are billions of people in the world, yet He still knows my thoughts.  He has the hairs on my head numbered.  He knows my every action and has a perfect plan for me.  When I think of God and His infinite knowledge, His ways are so high I, like the Psalmist, cannot attain them.

God has the power to know all these things about us, but He doesn’t have to.  He chooses to know us and commune with us.  He chooses to love us and lead us.  He chose to create us and He has a plan for us.

What choice are you making today?  Are you in awe of the beauty of God’s love?  Do you stand amazed at the infinite knowledge of God?  Are you choosing to draw closer to Him and let Him reveal His plan for your life?  He has already done his part.  The choice is now yours.

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.  Psalm 139:17-18
