“But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”  Romans 6:22

As humans, we’re born into the bondage of sin.  Our human nature is to sin.  No one has to teach us how, we automatically know it.  Although this may depict a scary picture, it doesn’t end there.  Christ paid the ransom for our sins, and by accepting Him we can be free.

What does it mean to be free, though?  Does it mean you will never have temptations?  Of course not.  Does it mean that life will always be easy?  By no means.  It does, however, give us the privilege of having a relationship with God.  It gives us the promise of eternal life, access to God, and the ability to be called His child.

Once we accept Christ it doesn’t end there, however.  God calls us to live a life of holiness.  Just as the children of Israel were God’s chosen people, we are also “chosen” as His children.  God has high standards for us just as He did for the children of Israel as shown in Deuteronomy 14:2, “For thou are a holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all nations that are on the earth.”

Today I challenge you to live holy just as God has called you to.  Make it your goal to be found perfect and blameless in his sight.

“For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy.”  Leviticus 11:44
