God Connect: Daily Renewing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

“And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.  I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.” Ecclesiastes 1:13-14

Too many times in life I think we get trapped “chasing the wind.”  We rush from place to place trying to get all the things on our “to-do” list done, or we put time and energy into hobbies or interests that won’t really matter in the long run.  We’re so busy running here and there that we forget this is only our temporary home and the things of this world really don’t matter.

Solomon found himself in the same predicament, shown by his writing in Ecclesiastes.  He had wisdom, knowledge, wealth, possessions, friends, and companions.  In the world’s eyes he had all the treasure that one could ever hope for.  Yet he knew that he could have everything under the sun and it would all be vanity.

Today I challenge you to find where your treasure lies.  If you’re busy chasing the wind for things on the earth, stop and realize that it’s all vanity.  Take time to re-focus on God and the things that truly matter.

“Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.”  Ecclesiastes 2:11
