What Are You Seeking?

on January 19, 2012

It seems that in this life we’re always searching for something.  We may be looking for satisfaction in our job, a higher education, a relationship that will last a lifetime, or friends that will never fail us.  Fortune, fame, and power are common things many people search after.  We may be searching for a new gadget that will make us happy.  We may even think if we had a new house, new car, or that perfect relationship our lives would be complete.  However, if seems that all too often we find that the things we are searching after weren’t really what we wanted at all.  We obtain what we’re looking for, but it only leaves us with an emptiness and a hunger for something more.

The Scripture reminds us time and time again that God is all we really need.  He gives us salvation through His Son and ultimate peace and joy throughout the perils in life.  But how do we obtain it??? We find the fullness of God when we seek Him with our whole hearts.  Jeremiah 29:13 confirms that truth, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

Today, I challenge you to stop seeking after the things of this world.  They will only bring temporary satisfaction.  Instead, seek after a unique and personal relationship with God.  In doing so, He promises to lead and guide you, bless you, give you peace and joy, strengthen your faith, and reward you with a place He has prepared for you… a place of complete perfection.

“But without faith it it impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  Hebrews 11:6
