God Connect: Daily Renewing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

Unity

on January 12, 2012

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Psalm 133:1

Unity is defined as “the state or fact of being united or combined into one, as parts of a whole.”   God created us as unique individuals.  We each have a special talents and ways we can serve Him.  He made us each to be so different.  Yet when believers come together to serve and worship God with a pure heart, the unity of the group is beautiful.  The harmony and balance of a united group of Christians is no less than perfect.  God desires for us to worship Him purely and sincerely.  With unity, we are able to do so.

The unity within our fellow believers also gives us compassion for every person’s needs.  We realize that we are the body of Christ and our ultimate goal is to bring honor and glory to Him.  We can experience this unity by coming together to worship God, going out to serve Him, praying for and helping others, and by realizing the unique gifts God has blessed us with and using them to uplift His kingdom and glorify His name.

My challenge for you today is to strive to live peaceably with all men so that unity may be achieved with your fellow believers.  In doing so, you will find the Holy Spirit working in your life in new and powerful ways.

“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, as one body: so also is Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12
