God Connect: Daily Renewing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

Dodging the Fiery Darts

on January 11, 2012

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11

Each day we wake up and prepare for a new battle.  The world we live in is a battleground.  We face things that wound us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  Illness of ourselves and family members tries our faith and forces us to question our reliance on God.  Accidents and natural disasters threaten to overwhelm us and drastically change our lives.  Death of family members and friends leaves us with heartache and dread.  We face financial hardships that leave us filled with worry.  People we see daily may have differences of opinions that cause conflicts.

We face all these scary challenges in our battles each day.  However, we often fail to realize the true enemy…Satan.  All of the trials and temptations we face are fiery darts Satan is sending our way.  His ultimate goal is to tear us down.  Fortunately, God has equipped us with His armor to help us win the battle.  He gives us truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and His word to help us counteract the attacks of Satan.

My challenge for you today is to learn to use the tools God has equipped you with.  Don’t let Satan win the battle of your heart, mind, and soul.  Instead, defeat him by using the power of God.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”  1 Peter 5:8
