God Connect: Daily Renewing Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

Faith… According to Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” As Christians, we like to think we have faith, that we are trusting God with our lives.  We “trust” that God will provide for our needs.  We “trust” that He will heal the sick.  We “trust” He has a greater plan for us when our world seems like it is caving in around us.  But oftentimes I stop and wonder how much are we relying on ourselves, and how little we are relying on God.  God wants us to give our hearts and lives to Him unreservedly.  He doesn’t expect us to try to do all we can and when we can’t carry the load anymore, turn it over to Him.  He wants us to turn it over to Him to start with, and have faith in the promise that He is working all things for our good.

As today begins a new year, the turning of a new leaf, a new chapter in our lives… I challenge you to measure your faith.  Matthew 17:20 tells us that if we have faith the size of a grain of mustard seed we can move mountains.  It’s time we stop “thinking” we have faith, but instead really “knowing” we have faith and start putting it into action.  Do you have a big decision in your life? Trust God for an answer.  Are your finances tight? Trust God to provide.  Do you need comfort and peace in troublesome times? Trust God to overwhelm your heart with His presence.  “Without faith, it is impossible to please him.” Hebrews 11:6
